What It Is:
This is a character traits worksheet. It includes a word bank of external traits (hair color, hair style, eye color, size, skin tone, freckles, braces, glasses, clothing) and internal traits (confident, kind, helpful, brave, smart, funny, talkative, curious, nervous, friendly, shy, cheerful, talented, quiet). Students are asked to describe their own external and internal traits and then compare themselves to a classmate and their mother/teacher using sentence starters.
Grade Level Suitability:
This worksheet is suitable for grades 2-4. The vocabulary and sentence structures are appropriate for this age range, and the concept of identifying and comparing traits is a key social-emotional learning objective for these grades.
Why Use It:
This worksheet helps students develop self-awareness by identifying their own character traits. It also promotes social skills by encouraging students to compare themselves to others and recognize similarities and differences. It builds vocabulary related to personal characteristics.
How to Use It:
First, have students use the word bank to describe their own external and internal traits in the provided table. Then, guide them to compare themselves to a classmate and their mother/teacher using the sentence starters, choosing the appropriate words from the word bank. Encourage discussion about why they chose certain traits.
Target Users:
This worksheet is designed for elementary school students, particularly those in grades 2-4. It is also useful for teachers and counselors who want to facilitate self-reflection and social comparison activities in the classroom.
