Description
What It Is:
This is a DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) Behavioral Chain Analysis Worksheet. It includes sections for identifying the target behavior, types of links (actions, body sensations, cognitions, events, feelings), chain analysis (vulnerability factors, prompting event, actual behaviors and events, consequences in the environment, consequences in myself), and solution analysis (ways to reduce vulnerability, ways to prevent prompting event, skillful alternative behaviors, plans to repair, correct, and over-correct harm). There is also a visual chain of ovals to represent the sequence of events.
Grade Level Suitability:
This worksheet is suitable for high school students and adults. It requires a level of cognitive and emotional maturity to understand and analyze complex behavioral patterns. It is more appropriate for therapeutic settings or advanced psychology courses.
Why Use It:
This worksheet helps individuals understand the sequence of events leading to a problem behavior. It promotes self-awareness by encouraging them to identify vulnerability factors, prompting events, and consequences. It also facilitates problem-solving by guiding them to develop alternative behaviors and solutions to prevent future occurrences.
How to Use It:
First, identify the target behavior. Then, work through the chain analysis section, starting with vulnerability factors and progressing through each step in the sequence. Use the ovals to visually map the progression. Finally, complete the solution analysis section, focusing on developing strategies to address each component of the chain.
Target Users:
This worksheet is intended for individuals in therapy, counselors, therapists, and students learning about DBT. It is also helpful for individuals who want to understand their own behavioral patterns and develop more effective coping strategies.
