Information
Description
What It Is:
This is a worksheet designed to teach children about natural resources. The worksheet is divided into four sections, each featuring a different natural resource: Rocks, Trees, Soils, and Rivers. Below these sections are cut-out images of man-made objects: Crops, Jewelry, Energy, and Paper. The instructions ask the student to cut and paste the man-made objects under the correct natural resource from which they are derived.
Grade Level Suitability:
This worksheet is most suitable for Kindergarten to 2nd grade. The concepts are simple and the activity of cutting and pasting is appropriate for this age group. The vocabulary is also geared towards early elementary students.
Why Use It:
This worksheet helps children understand the connection between natural resources and the products we use every day. It promotes critical thinking by requiring students to analyze where different items originate. It also reinforces fine motor skills through cutting and pasting.
How to Use It:
First, have the student identify each of the natural resources and man-made objects. Then, instruct the student to cut out each of the man-made object images. Finally, guide the student to paste each object under the natural resource from which it is made (e.g., Paper under Trees).
Target Users:
This worksheet is designed for elementary school students, particularly those in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. It is also useful for teachers and parents who want to introduce or reinforce the concept of natural resources in a hands-on way.
